Majlis Perbandaran Bentong
Municipal administration in Bentong District began with the establishment of the Bentong Town Council on the 5th. May 1955 with the force of law and gazetted according to Pahang State Gazette No. 147. Establishment of the Bentong District Council on the 1st. July 1981 is based on the Local Government Act (Act 171). It is an upgrade from the Town Council to a District Council with the unification of the Bentong Town Council together with 5 Local Councils and several other areas namely:

The area of the Bentong District Council when it was established was 42 square miles where 30.99 square miles was the full operation area (taxable) and 10.0045 square miles was the development control area
The operational area covers the areas of Bandar Bentong, Genting Highlands, Karak, Telemong, Manchis, Sg. Dua and Bukit Tinggi. While the control area consists of the area of Sg. Gapoi, Simpang Pelangai, Kg Shafie, Jambu Rias, Janda Baik and Sg. Scorer
The Bentong District Council office was originally located on the top floor of the Bentong Market building, and then moved to its own building on the former site of the Bentong Rest House in Jalan Ketari
From the 1st. January 2001, after 20 years of its establishment, the administrative area of Bentong District Council has increased to 1,105 square km (426,542 square miles). The new operational area is 867.69 square km (335.02 square miles). The estimated population in its administration exceeds 104,000 people and an income of RM13.25 million for the year 2003
On the 19th. November 2003, the State Authority through the Government Meeting Council has agreed to support the proposal to upgrade the Bentong District Council to the Bentong Municipal Council
On the 16th. July 2005, Bentong District Council was officially declared as BENTONG MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
